In memory of one of the founders of our swim team, a special Team Spirit award is given. Peggy Russell is remembered as a tireless volunteer who put everyone else before herself. She never missed a meet and managed to contribute not just to her three boys, but to the entire team, neighborhood and community. As stated by former coach, Scott Flack in 2016, "The person who carries the team on their shoulders is honored with an award for a woman who carried the community on hers!" 

Each season, one swimmer who has shown loyalty, outstanding team spirit, sportsmanship and enthusiasm is chosen to receive this special award by team officers and coaches. For one full year the award remains in the care of the recipient. Peggy Russell was an extraordinary woman whose light will continue to shine bright in the one exceptional Villager who is selected to carry her award for one year.  The swimmer’s name is also added to the Team Spirit Trophy. This special person will be announced yearly at the Team Awards Dinner.
